Web Conferencing programs are available in the US and worldwide. Web conferencing is simply a great way for conducting meetings, seminars, new product roll-outs, or just general get together for brain storming.
Teleconferencing is mainly about conference calls where small to very large groups of people can participate to or listen to the phone conversation. Video conferencing then allows the presenter to appear on the screens of all the attendees. For small groups all the attendees can appear on the screen in separate webcam windows.
Web conferencing or Web Seminars. Web Seminars are usually more than ten people and only the organizer and perhaps a small number of panelists have the control of the conference. With web conferencing, it is normally limited to less than ten people and the attendees each have the opportunity to present and participate in the discussion.
Web conferencing programs use high speed internet connection to transfer and share files and applications.
These programs can combine HTML, Java scripts, flash animation, instant messaging and possibly audio and video streaming.
Through these options web conferencing can offer several 2010+ features. These are application and file sharing, PowerPoint presentations, internet co-browsing, basic white boards, polling/surveying, text messaging.
Web Conferencing offers two distinct means to operate. The first is use of conferencing software that can be installed in computers. This allows companies to host the meetings themselves. The alternative and most widely used means is using a specialty hosting service that provides the software and server space and phone connections.
How you manage your web conference depends on the software and/or hosting used and how the moderator or organizer chooses to run the meeting. Generally, prior to the scheduled meeting the moderator compiles the documents and files for the meeting and has them distributed.
New in past few years is integration with email programs like Outlook and others. The moderator e-mails or sends text messages inviting the guests and participants citing the certain day and time the web conference will start.
Attendees may accept or reject the invitation online. Many new calendar programs even add the meeting to their schedules automatically. The invitation sent out includes a link to the conference and a password or access code to join the conference. The attendee just have to click the URL and enter the password or access code.
Once the attendees have logged onto the conference the moderator controls the meeting. He or she has the ability to share the desktop and other documents and applications. Control of the flow of the discussion can be handed over to other attendees letting them to present as well. Participants can often communicate to each other by audio or video, voice chat, instant messaging or desktop sharing.
Images from the presenter’s computer are continually sent to attendees much like video streaming. Participants can share documents and applications because the files are temporarily available on the server where anyone with the right link and password can access. Individuals can end the conference or log out of the meeting by simply close their conferencing programs.
Web conferences are easy to set up and can forge strong working relationships among vendors, employees, customers, prospects and others. Collaborations and cooperation made through web conferencing are increasingly a very important role to improving your business!
